With the robust Post 9/11 G.I. Bill and education benefits, many Veterans and Servicemembers' first stage in transitioning to their civilian life often begins in a college, university or trade school.
Many higher education and career training institutions have specific Student Veteran support programs commingly identified as "Military and Veterans Reource Centers (MVRC)" or similar names. These centers serve as the primary point of contact for active duty Servicemembers, Veterans and their family members on campus.
These MVRC's are committed to ensuring that military-affiliated students successfully make the transition from the military environment to campus life and are assisted in their progress toward completing their academic degree. The MVRCs also serve as a resource to Veteran employees, providing guidance and referrals to assist with coaching, mentoring, and integration into the campus community. Direct VA benefit support, Student Veteran organizations and other transiiton support are often co-located here.
These centers overall goal is to deliver tangible tools and services to optimize academic success leading to graduation and employment opportunities.
